Blog of the Week is the Adam Smith Institute Blog.

He made it sound that India was Paradise Lost...
Forget History, Culture, and Ideals, apparently whatever is the next big thing we should hitch our star to it...
I support close ties to India given our past, but at the expense of North America and those 20 miles away?!

And BTW - I demand a northern voice for any mention on these Channel Four podcasts. I think I would like Bernard Ingham toplay me in future. What do you think?

keir - 'those 20 miles away' hate us with a passion and are doing everything possible to destroy us as an independent state. As an ally, give me India above our European enemies any time.

It's great fun watching NuLab implode, though, isn't it!

I almost feel guilty for bashing Ghandis heir, no doubt he is a nice man, undoubtedly highly intelligent despite what Verity thinks, however, he just isn't a conservative (unless he has been fibbing to us all in a ruthless bid for power) he would probably make an agreeable neighbour (if you like windmills) unfortunately he isn't the man to tackle the catastrophes this country will be facing in the not too distant future.
Let him have his fun , then the grown ups can take charge.

Indeed it is and, with any luck, the Cameron-led Conservatives will creep up to, oh, a 5% lead in the polls. After all Dave is concentrating on what really really matters to the electorate.

I obviously hit the cutting room floor, but if I rate a mention again, you will need a Northern voice for me too.

These resignations/letters are dynamite. These are not Lefties. I like the way use the term "unswerving loyalty" is used in both of them. I love the way that TW signs off with "yours ever"!!

Also the literary merit is low - so embarassing in a formal letter.

T Watson

For the sake of the legacy you have long said is the only one that matters ... (Is this bad English or downright insulting? I can't make my mind up)

K Mahmood.

Given which (not these!!!) views, it is with the greatest regret that I must leave the Government.

I was shocked but not surprised by Cameron's cosy up to India comments. My alter ego Little Nicky Machiavelli said the very same thing about two months ago.
A Tory leaders nicking policies from an unrepentant old liberal - its an outrage.
(My own political career was aborted very early by my namesake's little problem. Whenever I announced myself, "hello, I'm Ian Thorpe, your Liberal candidate" people would just run off and hide their dogs.)

I'm really glad to see Raj from Mumbai has been given a plug, he was really helpful in giving me some Indian press web links.
