Hilary Armstrong is the Labour Party's David Mellor

The 'Goebbels Prinzip' dictates that constant repetition forces people to believe whatever junk they're being told. Hilary Armstrong is the Josef Goebbels of Tony Blair's bunker. She goes on TV and repeats the same mantra over and over again the expectation that the Great British public will believe her inanities.

She has a voice which sounds like chalk being scraped on a blackboard yet she is allowed onto TV to defend her master and benefactor. All I can say is they must be desperate. It's just as well Sunday AM doesn't give its viewers those machines which constantly measure the performance of a speaker, because Armstrong would have had the machines flatlining within seconds.

The only Conservative I can think of who provokes a similar reaction in me is David Mellor, but instead of chalk on a blackboard he's more like listening to cooking oil pouring from a chip pan.

I could only take a minute of it and left, later I asked my better half what the rest of the interview was like. "Worse she said".

Did Andrew ask if her maths had improved? Or if Hilary knew her nickname "1 vote".

After the fall of the Conservative government the BBC put much paid work the way of David Mellor and Edwina Currie. In the guise of even handedness it was constantly reminding listeners of the unpopularity of the Tories. Or am I just being paranoid ?

What do you expect from a woman who has a frankenstein bolt through her neck? She's a monster.

Don't blame Hilary, she's not very bright and she's doing her best. The people we should be after are those nulabs that put her up for interview and those that give her airtime, but I must agree that it was appalling to behold. Does she suck girl's toes too?

Some should note that she is married to a No. 10 policy advisor. He very job and status depends on Blairite patronage and the perpetuation of the New Labour project and the continuing appropriation of the Labour Party away from its members and trade unions towards Big Business, the City, Oil Corporations, Arms Dealers and the White House.

"oil out of a chip pan"
Brilliantly bitchy and very funny I recall the night he was sacked and all of his opponents harangued him and waved huge foam toes, just adding to his humiliation it was exquisite, sir James Goldsmith apparently enjoyed himself enormously.
And to this day every time I watch little britain and see that sketch where the greasy politician comes to his garden gate to explain some sexual shenanigans I cant help thinking about that fat, oily, smug, skid mark on a tramps Y fronts Mellor.

Slightly off subject - but what Hazel chipmunk Blears been up to ? Haven't seen her on TV for a while - but then I have been in a tent in Northern Scotland for 2 weeks ! Surely she should be out defending her leader in his continuing time of need ?

According to The Sunday Times, Blears has been encouraging ministers to make video diaries of themselves being human and doing "good works".
Tessa Jowell, it seems, has been away from the office all week as she films herself helping underprivileged children.

Re Hilary Armstrong: she's certainly as ugly as Mellor, but judging from her squarking contribution to Prime Minister's Questions, she'd prefer the Millwall kit for bed-time.

It's desperate barrel-scraping to put Armstrong up as a Blairist media propagandist. She's proof of the old adage that a red rosetted whippet would get elected in certain Labour constituencies.

Ruth Kelly's voice does that to me. When I ignore it and hear what she's saying, the impression doesn't improve. As for a similar tory, how about Michael Howard?

I think you are most unfair to David Mellor. I have attended several talks by him, on political subjects, business and on music. All were interesting, well informed and well presented. The voice is a question of taste, but in terms of content there is no contest - he is 1000% better than Hilary Armstrong. It is no wonder that he can command a high fee as speaker (although probably not as much as William Hague!).

She should go back to running that double glazing outfit in Coventry

Rather like the Nazi Propagandist, she could share his nickname, she is also a bit of a poisoned dwarf.
